Pixie's Snippets Playground - Weeks 178 and 179

Today I have a few cards to share, as I will be away from my PC, blog and civilisation (very little in the way of technology) for the whole of June - I will miss you all, my dear blogging friends!  So, whilst in the midst of packing and sorting things out, I decided to have a tidy up of my work area in readiness for my return.

Now, my crafty friends, you all know how this goes . . . you get a brand new die, you just have to cut it out there and then, to 'try it', you throw the die cut piece into a little box for when you have a project in mind that you will use it on . . . you never do!  You try out a new stamp and coordinating die, you throw that in your box in readiness for that project you have in mind, that you will make sometime . . . you never do!  And so it goes on and you have a box full of 'snippets' and strips of patterned paper and card-stock snippets  that will, 'come in handy' . . . which it never does!

Well, today was the day that I decided to change some of that tardiness and use some of it for some cards.

I had no plan, just pick out some bits and pieces and try them together to see if they work or not.  Some did and some didn't, that's the way it goes, but here they all are anyway.

As they have all been made with just 'snippets' and card bases I am going to enter all of them for Pixie's Snippets Playground - Weeks 178 and 179

So, without further ado, here they all are, in no particular order.

I'd like to be able to tell you all how they came about and what supplies created them, but none of us can spare that amount of time . . . I'm sure ;)

As always, thank you all so very much for visiting today and for any comments.  I will apologise in advance for not being able to comment or post throughout June, but hopefully, you will return to my blog when I get back as you all know how much you mean to me!  Meanwhile happy crafting, have a good day, see you in July!  Hazel xx

Freshly Made Sketches - #187 & Happy Little Stampers May CAS Challenge

Today's card.

Is for the Freshly Made Sketches #187 - A Sketch by Cindy L

http://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/freshly-made-sketches-187-sketch-by.html

and Happy Little Stampers May CAS Challenge, which is for die-cuts/punches, as it uses mostly die cuts - both, positive and negative.

First, I cut out the Marianne Designs, 'Brick' die and used the negative cut-outs for the border strip and then added my watercolour butterfly on foam tape for added dimension, this is almost a one layer card, except for the die-cuts.

I finished it off with a sentiment from Mama Elephant's, 'In My Heart' stamp set and three SSS, 'Moonshine' sequins.

Here are the rest of the pictures.

As always, thank you so much for making my day with your visits and comments!  Have a lovely evening/day!  Hazel xx

Pixie's Snippets Playground - Week 177

Continuing my quest in trying to tidy up, I came across this digi stamp that I purchased months and months ago and practised my colouring technique on.  It's been floating around in my drawer ever since, but as it's such a large image I could never really work out what to do with it.  Well, I got fed up with it just sitting around doing nothing, so I decided that the only thing to do with it, was to make it the star of the show and just add it to the front of a base card with a simple sentiment.  That is what I did here.

As the strip of vellum was also languishing in my box of 'scraps' I decided it was just the thing for Pixie's Snippets Playground - Week 177

http://pixiescraftyworkshop.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/pixies-snippets-playground-week-177-and.html

Unfortunately, I can't remember where I bought the digi  stamp, but I used Prismacolour pencils and the sentiment was from Clearly Besotted's, 'Sugar & Spice' stamp set.  Here are the rest of the pictures.

As always, thank you so very much for taking the time to visit today and for all your sweet comments.  You really make my day!  Have a lovely Tuesday!  Hazel xx

Scraps & Leftovers

Hi, my lovely blogging friends.  I'm afraid today's post is a bit lengthy as I have two cards for you and an explanation of how they came about, so if you have somewhere to be, I suggest you skip to the pictures or you might be late!   It all started because I thought I should have a 'tidy up' of all my bits and pieces laying around on my worktop.

You know, the die cuts that you cut with that brand new die and were too excited to see what it looked like that you couldn't wait to have a real plan in mind on how to use it.

The background pieces that you made trying out a new technique - or in my case - trying a very old technique that you had forgotten about, for those who missed it, you will find the post HERE.

Those scraps of card and paper that was left from when you finished a project and just couldn't bring yourself to throw them in the bin - the 'keep it, it may come in handy' bits and bobs - we all have them don't we?

Anywho, the first card uses some die cuts that I had cut out, a tag from a SU die set, an umbrella die and stamp set from WPlus9 and some scraps of patterned paper and card-stock.

First, I used a Dylusions stencil and some Cosmic Shimmer texture paste and did a little stencilling here and there and left that to dry.  Whilst it was drying, I adhered the umbrella and 'Love' die-cuts to the tag and stamped the sentiment and little hearts on the tag.  By then the card had dried and I was able to assemble it.

The whole thing was finished off with some scraps of patterned paper and card scraps and here is the result.

I was told by MaryH of Carolina Cards about a challenge that these cards would fit, Pixie's Snippets Playground so I would like to enter them there

In my second card today I used a piece of the 'marbled background', that I made and showed here on my blog a while ago now and some leaves and layered flowers die-cuts that I had cut out  extras from another project.  Here is that card.

I want to thank you for visiting today and for any comments and if you are still with me this far, I also want to thank you for tenacity!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend my friends!  Hazel xx

Freshly Made Sketches #186 & Happy Little Stampers CAS May Challenge

Another card for more than one challenge today, Freshly Made Sketches #186  and the Happy Little Stampers CAS May Challenge  This is the card.

And here are the challenges

http://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/freshly-made-sketches-186-sketch-by-jen.html

http://happylittlestampers.blogspot.ca/2015/05/hls-may-cas-challenge-dt-call.html

First I made my plain white card blank and cut a panel smaller out of white linen card-stock and cut a strip of patterned paper from the Avery Elle, 'Every Day Collection' and also punched out a circle from it.  Next, I punched a smaller circle from white card-stock, die-cut a quatrefoil border strip - sorry, I can't remember who it is by - and mounted it on to the linen panel on the diagonal.

Next, I mounted the smaller circle on to the larger patterned circle, off centre, then mounted that on top of the border strip.  Then I stamped the sentiment banner with the Clearly Besotted, 'Mini Basic Banner' and cut it out with the matching die and mounted it on foam tape to the front of the circle.

I finished the whole thing off with a part of the 'La La Land' 'Berry Flourish' die cut (the whole thing would have been too big), I only wanted to accent my focal piece and not overpower it and added a few black gems for balance.

Then I mounted the whole panel on to the base card, with some craft foam.  Here are the rest of the pictures.

As always, you all really make my day with your visits and sweet comments.  Thank you so much!  Have a lovely day!  Hazel xx

Another Challenge Fail . . . When Will I Learn?

This card was supposed to be for a brand new sketch challenge on the WPlus9 blog.  However, and this is where the "fail" comes in, when I made out my list of products used, I realised one very important thing was missing, nothing . . . but nothing, was from WPlus9!  Fail!!  I own loads of WPlus9 products and yet I had managed to make a card without a single WPlus9 product!  Duh!

Anywho, that wasn't going to stop me from posting it here anyway for you all to see.  So, without further ado . . . here it is!

I think that the problem was, when I saw the sketch, I immediately thought, 'MFT Blueprints 3' and didn't think beyond that!  This is the sketch that I followed.

As you can see, I even followed the colour scheme (which I didn't have to use) it was a choice whether we followed it or not.  Here are the rest of the photos and below will be the list of products used.

Supplies used:

Distress Ink - Spun Sugar
My favorite Things - Blueprints 3
Cuttlebug - Herringbone
Clearly Besotted - A Little Sentimental
Memory Box - Masa Leaf?

As promised from my earlier post of today, I even got away from the layered flowers and black leaves!  Thank you all for visiting, I really appreciate you and all your comments!   Have a lovely day.  Hazel xx

House Of Cards May Challenge - Bokeh - Take Two & Now Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge - May - Die-Cuts

This is my second attempt at the House Of Cards - May Challenge - Bokeh  and as you can tell, they want to see bokeh, so here it is.  Since this post, Loll of Stamping With Loll suggested that I could also post it in the Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge - May - Die-Cuts
so, I am also entering it in that challenge too!

http://happylittlestampers.blogspot.ca/2015/05/april-cas-winners-may-cas-reminder-1.html

As you can tell, at the moment I seem to be addicted to layered flowers and this card is no exception!  I didn't know if there was enough of the bokeh panel showing or not, but it's still bokeh . . . right?

Anywho, I dry embossed the base card with one of my favourite embossing folders, American Crafts, 'Woodgrain' and then set about creating my bokeh panel with soft blues and shimmery pearl - which you can't see from the pictures.

I then mounted the panel onto black cardstock a touch bigger to give it a small black border.  I then attached my layered flowers and leaves - black leaves are another latest addiction of mine - I promise I will break the mould soon!  You must all be getting a little tired with the same look every day!  Anyway, thank you all for sticking with it and for all your wonderful comments.  I appreciate you all!  Without further ado, here are the rest of the pictures.

Supplies used:

American Crafts - Shimelle Woodgrain embossing folder
My Favorite Things - Upsey Daisies
Creative Expressions - Quilled Leaves
Lawn Fawn - Stitched Rectangles
Stampin' Up - Petal Potpouri

Freshly Made Sketches #185 - Take Two

My card for today is my second card for the Freshly Made Sketches #185 - A Sketch by Cindy H  challenge, and here it is.

This is Cindy's sketch.

http://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/freshly-made-sketches-185-sketch-by.html

First, I dry embossed my card panel with  a wood-grain folder.  Next, I sponged my focal panel with some lilac ink in a 'slight' ombre effect.  Then I used Paper Smooches, Scripty Sayings to stamp my sentiment and added a small, layered flower and flourish to the corner.

I finished, by cutting two flags from different patterned papers and mounted the sponged panel on top of the banners and mounted the whole thing to my embossed panel.

Finally, I mounted that on to a black card base.  Here are the rest of the pictures.

As always, thank you so much for making my day with your visits and for all your comments, you are all appreciated more than you can know!  I hope you all are having a lovely weekend.  Hazel xx
