Happy Little Stampers CAS - Stamping & UK Craft Retreat! Less Is More - Snippets

Today's card is again for the Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge - Stamping  as I wanted to get a last one in before closing!

Also, if you didn't already know Kylie is organising a UK crafting retreat, if you are interested, pop on over, all the details are posted on the Happy Little Stampers blog.

http://happylittlestampers.blogspot.com.au/

Anywho, this is my card today., which was very heavily influenced by a card I saw made in a video by the uber talented  Jennifer McGuire . . . honestly, if you have never seen her work, where have you been?  Just click on her name above to be taken to her blog and give yourself a real treat!

I first spread silver embossing paste through a Tim Holtz Layering Stencil on to a corner of grey card-stock, let it dry and flush mounted it on to a card base.  Then I dry embossed a white panel with a We R Memory Keepers Embossing Folder and cut the corner off at an angle and stuck a snippet of black card-stock under the cut edge to finish it off and then mounted that on to the grey panel.

Finally, I added some flower and leaves die cuts that I have had 'knocking about' in my craft room for ages and also a thanks die cut - also cut on another occasion - all these 'snippets' are from when I purchase a new die and try it out, I usually do not have a specific project in mind for them at the time, so they go into my little box and usually sit there forever!  As it contains a lot of 'snippets' I also thought I would enter it in the Less Is More Challenge, which is for 'Snippets'  I was also going to put it into 'Pixie's Snippets Playground', but am ashamed to say, I forgot how to use that Linky Widget over there . . . I've done it before, but I can't remember how?

I finished of with some WOS, and Glossy Accents on the sentiment and WOS on the flowers.

Why not get an entry in quick at HLS, you still have one day!  As always, I appreciate your visits and comments . . . you really do make my day!  Have a lovely one!  Hazel xx

Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge - Stamping

Hello my lovelies!  Today, I thought I'd make another card for our Happy Little Stampers CAS challenge - Stamping  as there is still a few days left until it closes.  Why not come over and join in?

http://happylittlestampers.blogspot.com.au/2015/07/hls-july-cas-challenge.html

Here are the photos

Following my decision of trying not to buy anything too much new stuff until I have used some more of my NBUS - I think we all know who started that acronym by now, don't we? - the lovely Darnell, of course, if you are new to blogging, pop on over and give yourself a treat and tell her I said to say, "Hi", she's warm, friendly, funny and will help anyone!

First, I heat embossed a subtle pattern with clear, dull, WOW embossing powder with my first NBUS, a background stamp from My Favorite Things, 'Lace' and mounted it to a card base.

Next, I stamped some flowers from another NBUS item, Altenew, 'Henna Elements' and did some masking, to make them look like they are overlapping.  Then I coloured them with Caran d'Ache pencils.

To finish, I fussy cut the edge, added a die cut sentiment, covered it in Wink Of Stella and Glossy Accents, doodled a few dots, to lift the whole thing and that was that . . . two more NBUS items used . . . now to make a start on the other 9,998 items!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are all having a lovely Sunday, take care!  Hazel xx

Two Challenges, One New To Me

Hello my lovelies!  Thank you all so very much for your well wishes on my blog yesterday, I was truly overwhelmed!  Thank you!

You will be pleased to know that Dr's Ben & Jerry has helped in my recovery a great deal ;)

But I will be going back once in a while for a top up of medication ;)  Anyway, the swelling is going down little by little, I am starting on solids now (nothing too hard to chew still) and the stitches will be coming out next week!

Well, on to today's post.  Today I am linking to two challenges, one of which I have only entered a few times and one I have never entered . . . there are only so many challenges one can do isn't there?

The challenges are:

Addicted To CAS Challenge - Chevron

http://addictedtocas.blogspot.com.au/

And

Color Throwdown Challenge #351

http://colorthrowdown.blogspot.co.uk/

With added sparkle - my added sparkle comes from the pearlised cardstock and sequins.

This is my card:

Those of you who kindly visited yesterday will know that I am trying to use more of my NBUS and I'm finding it quite exciting, finding stuff that I had even forgotten I had!  For today's card, I used, PTI, Linen EP (one I have used previously), Reverse Confetti, Chevrons Die (NBUS) and Clearly Besotted 'Say It In Style' (used before, but not for ages)

I am going to try and use at least one item of NBUS on every card I make for a while, until some new 'got to have' item comes along!

Thank you all again for visiting me, I'm off to make three more cards now with the 'left over' chevron die cuts!  have a wonderful, wonderful weekend my friends!  Hazel xx

Apologies & Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge

Sorry for my absence these last few days, only I had an operation on Wednesday and my face is swollen, my jaw is aching like a good un, even my tongue is bruised, so I haven't felt up to much!

I'm sorry for my lack of comments too, I have so gotten behind with everything!  It's a long story that I won't bore you all with in detail, but I had a tooth infection start, about three years ago and I had antibiotics prescribed, which didn't do the trick, and subsequently I had three root canals, none of which worked!

So I ended up having this operation, whereby they cut into my gum, cut away a part of the jaw bone, removed the infection and bottom part of the nerve and stitched the gum back up.  However, I have only been able to cope with Ben & Jerry's Blueberry Cheesecake Frozen Yoghurt . . . so, not all bad then ;)

Today I decided to use something from my enormous collection of NBUS . . . I have also decided that I must stay away from all the new releases until I have used more of my NBUS.  It will be difficult, but I thought if I write something down that I fancy getting and then leave it for a while, if I still want it when I look at it again, in say, a month, then I will get it.

What usually happens with me is, I see a fabulous card made with a new release and think that I need to get that stamp set/die etc., and when it arrives, I put it to one side, then later, when I see it in my stack, I can't think what I can do with it!  Are any of you the same, or do you use your new stuff as it arrives?  So, my mantra is going to be, use more and buy less . . . Hmm, I wonder how long that will last?

Anywho, on to today's card, it was made with my, Waffle Flower 'Perfect' stamp set.  Not one of my best attempts I know, but they can't all be perfect, can they?  I must hold my hands up and say that I have never been very good at flower arranging, real or virtual!

This is it.

As it is stamped, I thought I would link it to our Happy Little Stampers CAS challenge

.
Why not join in the fun!

Thank you for visiting today and for any comments, you are all appreciated very much.  Have a lovely weekend all you lovely people.  Hazel xx

New Dies & A Card Set

Good afternoon my lovelies!  I'm sorry that I have been rather remiss in my posting since my return, but I have been very busy doing scheduled blog posts for when I am away again during September - from the end of August to the end of September - same place away from technology!

However, I had received three Spellbinder dies that I had ordered and needed to do a test cut to see what they come out like.  I cut all three out of different colours of card-stock and also, again in white as I wanted to use the negatives as well.

Then I added simple die cut sentiments and that was it, job done!  Here are individual photos of each and then a 'group' shot.  I am going to make a box for them, add some envelopes and donate them somewhere.

Which design is your favourite?  I can't decide!  have a great week, thanks for stopping by and making my day!  Hazel xx

Happy Little Stampers CAS - July Challenge - Stamping (my first ever DT post)

Hi everyone, I still think I'm dreaming about being asked by Loll Thompson (before I went on my break) if I would like to join the Happy Little Stampers CAS DT . . . and now, to be part of such a wonderful team as Happy Little Stampers, it's a dream come true.

So, without further ado, let me show you my contribution to my very first post as a DT member on my very first DT!    The theme is 'Stamping'

http://happylittlestampers.blogspot.com/2015/07/hls-july-cas-challenge.html

As the theme is for stamping, I felt that stamping needed to be the star of the show, so I used selective stamping to achieve this.  I used a VERY old stamp set that I thought would be ideal for this challenge, it is See D's, 'Say It Again' stamp set, and stamped each greeting in different colours of ink in rainbow order.

I finally stamped the greeting, Happy Birthday To YOU, underneath in Versafine ink in black onyx, with the Simon Says Stamp, 'You' stamp set.  Then I cut the panel with a My Favorite Things die from the 'Stitched Basic Edges' die set and foam mounted it on to the front of a card base that I covered with a piece of patterned paper from the Avery Elle, 'Everyday Collection' 6x6 pad.

I finished off with just three tiny iridescent star confetti pieces to match the patterned paper.

I hope you have been inspired to play along with the challenge at HLS.  Just make a card with stamping, and then link up to the challenge, it really is that simple.

Here are the pictures.

As always, thank you so much for visiting my blog and for any comments.  You all make my day!  Hazel xx
