Confusion And NBUS

Well, I made a card for a challenge today and couldn't remember the challenge blog where I saw it?  Whether I'm too late or not - or even, whether I dreamt it, yes, I'm sad enough to dream about card making too - anywho, it was for a 'cute' challenge.  But no matter because all the stuff I used for it only arrived saturday, so I was also going to enter it in Darnell's NBUS #4 Challenge too . . . so now it will be exclusive over there.

This is the card, almost a one layer - except for the foam mounted panda!

Freshly Made Sketches #179 & Happy Little Stampers CAS March Challenge

Incidentals - White & coloured cardstock, vellum, Versamark 'Black Onyx' and various distress inks.  Plus a homemade stencil and white pigment ink.

Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge - March - Sponging

Well, this month has been quite hectic and has gone past so quickly that I didn't think I'd get a chance to do this challenge, but I have!!  Happy dance from a happy stamper, get it . . . oh, please yourselves ;)  This is for the HLS #4 Challenge which is 'Sponging'

And as I used a stamp set that only arrived yesterday, I am also going to enter it in Darnell's NBUS # 4 Challenge  which for those of you who are completely new to blogland, is Darnell's own acronym, meaning, 'Never Before Used Schtuff'

Now, those of you who read this blog will know that last week I took an online card class and I made a card using one of the techniques from class using a homemade stencil and some sponging - ideal for the HLS challenge - so today I made another - I may make up a set of these as they would be suitable for any occasion with the right sentiment.

Anywho, I will waste no more of your valuable time and show you the card.  I will list the supplies used below.

Just For Me

Today I just did a little 'playing' with supplies, no course work, no challenge, no pressure - not that carfting is a pressure, but you know what I mean - no focus.

I started off just messing with inks and making a background, then I stamped some flowers and butterflies randomly all over it, so then I thought, I think I'll make a card with it . . . and that is what happened.  So this is what I ended up with.  It was totally organic, I didn't know what I was going to end up with . . . and it was fun!

Stretch Your Dies - Day 7 - Alphabet Dies

Well folks, yesterday was the last day of class!  It was all about alphabet dies.  I chose to try Jennifer's technique - well, it was more of a tip really - on how to get the die cut letters lined up straight . . . something I really struggle with.  I thought it might help me . . . I'm still not convinced that I have actually managed it.  I think some of the letters are spaced differently?

Anywho, this is the card.

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #178

I just had to try and squeeze in an entry to what has become one of the most addictive challenges for me lately the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #178 - A sketch by Narelle  this is their sketch this week.

One of the techniques I learned on my course this week turned out to be one of my favourites, so I thought I'd do something similar for the FMS challenge.  I turned the sketch upside down and did this.

Stretch Your Dies - Day 6 - Border Dies

Hi all you lovely people.  I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.  Yesterday's lesson was all about using your border dies in different ways.  I loved the look of the card that Laura did by using a border die to create a stencil and then using the stencil to create a geometric pattern for a striking background.

This is what I came up with.  I just adored doing this and will probably do a series of them to give as a set . . . the great thing is, every single one can be very different - but similar - you know what I mean, don't you?

Stretch Your Dies - Day 5 - Coordinating Dies

Yesterday was day five . . . already . . . of the course 'Stretch Your Dies' . . . I can hardly believe it!  Day five was, 'Coordinating Dies' and I chose Shari Caroll's technique.  It is difficult to explain in words, but basically, you kind of highlight a coordinating stamp and die with an acetate window, by stamping the outline on the window and cutting a piece of patterned paper with the die . . . does that make any sense to you as a reader?  The best thing I can do is to show you the card and let you work it out for yourseves!

Stretch Your Dies - Day 4 - Mini Dies

Yesterday was day four of the Stretch Your Dies online course and it was about mini dies.  I chose to use Carissa's technique of using mini dies to add interest to a patterned background.  I chose the mini hearts dies from Simon Says Stamp and some patterned papers from Stampin' Up.

Basically, you just position your mini dies wherever you wish the cutouts to be and run it through your cutting machine.  I used some of the little die cuts for even more added depth to the design.

It's a little 'busy', but I think it kind of works?  Here is the finished card.  I have shown a number of detail shots, so that you can see the cutouts better.
