Again With My Latest Crush - White & Gold and Learning From Mistakes

Today's offering is another 'white & gold' favourite!  This time, it's just for fun - it's not quite there enough for a challenge - my first mistake was stamping the gold sentiment on to white textured card, the second mistake was the pearlescent embossing paste - I don't think it went very well with the rest of the card - and the final mistake was using my 'gold' WOS on the edges of the petals of the Poinsettia.

I thought it only fair to show a 'mistake' card once in a while - not every time, otherwise I'd have to rename the blog 'My Card Failures'.

Anywho, here it is for what it's worth.

Well, that's it for today my lovelies . . . go forth and craft . . . and don't make the same mistakes that I have!  Have a lovely day!  Hazel xx

  1. i think it's a lovely card and don't see what's wrong with the pearlescent or the wink - to fix the sentiment you might try doing the same greeting on vellum with gold embossing powder and center it over the original. i've done that before - might work.

  2. I think it's great to sometimes point out what we think we've done wrong. Having said that Hazel I couldn't see a problem on the first picture. Barbxx

  4. Sweetheart, I'm sorry to have to tell you that you grabbed your pair of Delusional Glasses when you were working on this card and typing this post. Because in REALITY this card is stunning in every single detail! Either that or I'm certifiably blind all of a sudden! We will have to see what your other commenters have to say so we know which one of us is right. I sure hope it's me!! Enjoy your day! Hugs, Darnell

  5. Overall I think it's beautiful. Great layout and elements. I would never have seen what you did until you pointed it out, but that's because we're all our biggest critics.

  6. I rather like the pearlescent embossing paste. I've also made the mistake of stamping onto textured card stock! It doesn't look as bad as you think :) I do love the colours though and hope we get to see more :) xx

  7. Hi Hazel, I DO like your card it's very pretty. I must say I agree with you on the sentiment but the for the rest I don't agree. I like the borders of your flower leaves BTW what do you means with WOS ?
And I think the pearlescent paste is pretty too, gives it a beautiful faded look.

  8. My friend, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this card!!!! It is beautiful!!! We tend to look with too much of a critical eye at our work work, hey!!!! If you hadn't pointed out the 'mistakes' I would not even have seen it!!! Your poinsettia is gorgeous and I do like the gold glitter strips!!!!! ...and the embossing paste looks great!!! Definitely fit to go with all your other lovely cards on your blog!!!!
    Have a wonderful weekend, Hazel!!!

  10. My dear Hazel, I think you are being to hard and critical with yourself! I agree with everyone else in that this is a beautiful card! The embossing paste adds to the elegant feel of the card! If the sentiment really bothers you, try Betty Keefe's trick. It's true that it is not super crisp but it's not terrible either!
    Enjoy your weekend,
    Susanne
