My card today comes again from my 'stash' of pre-made snippets and layers and all things rejected or 'saved in case it came in handy'.
This was a piece cut out from a larger Bokeh background that I was trying out back along. I just mounted it on to a textured card base and stamped a greeting which I embossed with gold EP to match the gold splatters in the focal piece.

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and are ready for the spring, I know I am! I must be honest and tell you that this card was made a while back, but I didn't know what to do with it . . . have you ever had those?
I used the die, when I first bought it and had that very bright piece of glossy card-stock in my drawer and put it behind the die -cut edge, I liked the boldness of it peeking out from under the pretty cut-out, but when I tried to put it together in a card, I was at a loss! Everything I tried, just didn't look right and I have had it out on many occasions since. . . . scratched my head, and . . . put it back in the drawer again!!
Today, I decided that my indecision was ridiculous and I was fed up with seeing it in my drawer, so I got it out again, stamped a sentiment, sprayed it with my home-made gold sparkle spray, added some flower sequins and a few spots of gold Stickles and called it done . . . it's the best I could do, I had a real, creative block with this one . . . do you ever get that?
An odd thing happened on my blog today . . . I've had it once before months ago . . . see the screenshot below.

Today's card was made for an important little man . . . baby Max, whom my sweet, darling Step Daughter gave birth to at 03:23 BST and was a healthy, 8lb 1oz . . . unfortunately they live over two hundred miles away, so it will be a little while before we meet him, but we will receive plenty of photos and minute by minute updates!
I kept the card CAS and used an adorable stamp and die set that I bought in honour of the occasion. It is Stampin' Up's 'Made With Love' . . . so apt!
I stamped the little baby-grow on to patterned paper and cut it out with the matching die. I stamped the sentiment on the front of the baby-grow. Then I ran around the edges and filled in the letters with a yellow, glitter gel pen. I then embossed a white card front with a linen EP and adhered some plain twine across the front - for a washing line - added two mini clothes pegs to the die cut and adhered it down firmly to the front of the card (first, clipping it to the twine).
I made it in yellow and grey, because it was made in advance, ready to send when the baby made it's appearance and nobody knew the sex (the parents didn't want to know, they wanted it to be a surprise) and I wanted to get it into the post immediately the baby was born!

As you can see, I sponged lightly through the negative of the die cut (not very smoothly I'm afraid) stamped the sentiment and then ran around the outside edge of the sponged image with a fine liner.

. . . other than to feed my addiction . . . no, no need for sharp intakes of breath . . . my addiction to card making! It is a very very wet Easter weekend here in the SW of the UK. It is blowing a gale and lashing down with rain, so, no opportunity (or, indeed, enthusiasm) to go anywhere!
So, I needed to make a card, just for the fun of it, so that is what I did! I felt that I should be going through my stash of 'snippets'. You know, the die cut from the die you had to try when it first arrived, the stamped piece from the stamp set that you loved and had to have, and all these supplies lay unused ever since . . . hmm, just me then!
Anywho, I rummaged through my snippet drawer and found, this pre-cut tag with the sentiment already on it (computer generated, so it is also a hybrid card), and the patterned paper border that was the negative from another die cut used tried in the past.
I took a plain white linen card base, adhered the border, added a coordinating ribbon to the tag and popped it up on foam tape for dimension, and that my friends was that, a super quick and easy card that satisfied a need in me! Here it is.

Yes, yes, I know, before you say anything, yes the title of this post is very long! In fact, the whole post is going to be very long, so, if you are in a rush, just skip through the pictures. For those of you are intrigued, grab a drink, pull up a chair and I will explain! Here goes. First things first.
The 'New Toy', that is the cover plate used for this card. It is Neat & Tangled's 'Graduated Stripes' cover-plate die and I wanted to try and use it before I put it away for another day and forgot it, you all know how that goes, right?
Then I set to and made this card.
Then I decided to make another card with the opposites of the first card . . . this was the card that refused to be made. I have never made a card like in in my life (well, I probably had when I first started, but thought it was marvellous . . . come on, you know what I'm talking about)
The very first disaster was that I adhered the gold panel down slightly crooked and it refused to come up without ruining the whole thing (in retrospect that wouldn't have been such a bad thing, because then I could be done with it and throw it away), but no, I ploughed on, so I stuck it down firmly, deciding to trim it a little. That was my next boo boo, I cut it rather crookedly, but didn't really notice it because I was busy trying to remove the glue that had squirmed it's way out and on to the front of the die cut . . . and there was the next boo boo disaster. It wasn't coming off with my adhesive erasure, so I decided to try Isopropyl Alcohol (rubbing alcohol for my American friends) and lo, waddaya know, gold foil card, just happens to be silver underneath.
You knew? Why have none of you told me? Still I wouldn't take the hint that this card really did not want to be made and I soldiered on!
I finally git it together and hid most of the boo boos, but when I took the pictures, under the 'all seeing' eye of the light-box, I saw that all was not right. The whole card has a 'wobble on' and there are still very visible glue marks on the foil. So, hence. my candidate for Darnell's April Boo Boo Blog Hop . . .

Today's card is for the Muse Challenge #157 it is a hybrid card. The muse was provided by the uber talented Anita Bowden of Neet and Crafty and this was her Muse card.
I was going to use my other new stamp set from Happy Little Stampers, the 'Doodled Flowers', but Kylie had already used that set on her Muse card. So, instead I used some of my digital stamps that I had purchased on Etsy, and arranged them in similar fashion to Anita's fabulous card. Then I printed it off and took it to my craft room.
The next step was to mask the image and sponge the colour over the image, remove the mask and stamp the sentiment (from a set that is old and I have no name for) Then, the final step was to use a gold glitter pen and put some groupings of dots around the image and that was done.

Well, lovelies, this is my second post today! I know, what am I playing at? Well, I had some new stamp sets arrive from Australia today and I had ideas for them in my mind. I'm talking about my Happy Little Stampers, 'Mix Mash' and 'Doodled Flowers'. For this card I used the 'Mix Mash' set, which is a very versatile set that have endless possibilities for layering - I can't wait to play some more - but for this I wanted to use the individual stamps in a simple way, because this is for a colour challenge, the CAS Colours & Sketches #165 Challenge, which is a colour challenge this time and the were
I had all three! So here is the card.
First I made my own patterned panel with a lot of the stamps from the HLS 'Mix Mash' set with the required colours. Then, I cut a wonky panel out of it and a wonky panel of Night Of Navy card-stock slightly bigger than the patterned panel (I know, it looks black in the photo, but it was Night Of Navy) and adhered the patterned piece on to it with tape runner.
Next, I mounted the focal panel on to the card front and stamped a sentiment from the same set, again, in Night Of Navy and that was done.

Hi all you lovely peeps, how are you all today, I hope you are having a good one? Today's card is for the Freshly Made Sketches #228 - A Sketch by Kim and this is her great sketch.
As soon as I saw it, I thought, 'I need to use a nice, big bloom there in that corner' and that was as far as it got until today . . . you all know how it is, you get caught up in 'things', and then, that's it . . . forgotten, until today!
Anywho, the first thing I did was to get out another piece of my background stash - it was only about four inches wide, so I cut it in half lengthwise and adhered the two halves down each side of a white card base and then I cut a panel, smaller than the card front to use as my focal piece, but when I held it against the side strips on my card base I felt it needed something to break it up a bit - hence the orange strips.
Next, I got out my Penny Black 'Patina' stencil (I first used a big bloom stamp, but it wasn't big enough), so I sponged some Hero Arts orange dye ink through the stencil, fading off a bit towards the middle, so it had a little dimension and then I adhered it to the front of the card with fun foam.
Finally, I used a Happy Little Stampers sentiment from the 'Mix Mash' set that only arrived today (very quickly from Australia to the UK I must say!!) on to a piece of matching, orange card-stock and embossed with white embossing powder. I then, fussy cut around it and left a thin strip as a kind of 'grounding' for the sentiment, but on reflection, I wish I had only had the strip on the right and not carried it straight across to both borders . . . what do you all think?
