Hello crafty friends! I hope you are all having a good weekend? Yesterday, I went through my card stash to see if I had any gaps - with my loss of mojo and the weather being dire, my cache was dwindling - I noticed I had no sympathy cards left (and as those kinds of cards are not something that you feel like making at the time you need them, I like to have a couple in hand).
I had recently purchased the 'With Sympathy' embossing folder, which was perfect. I ran a white panel through it and then all that was needed was a little 'something' in the corner I felt. I tried to use a lighter ink, to keep the stamping more subtle, but it was a grey and came out darker than I had anticipated. Then, I had to try and 'tie it in' somehow with the rest of the card, so I filled in the flowers with my Gellyroll Stardust pen and then it looked silver!
Anywho, here it is, for what it's worth . . . oh, and we have snow again here, so it will be sewing for me again today!

Hazel.... I think your card is gorgeous and so appropriate for the occasion. I often find that with greys (which I love) they turn out differently...different card stock maybe? How much ink on the stamp and I even try stamping once on scrap paper and then using it and then it might be too light and by the time I have over stamped it... it's gone dark again! I feel your pain! I think you are being hard on yourself my friend, as I think the grey and pretty silver works perfectly with the crisp white and gorgeous embossing folder. One classy card. ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful Sympathy card Hazel and the embossing folder is just the perfect start for making one, and love the silver coloured flowers which are very pretty. We have snow again here too, and I was supposed to be appearing in a show this evening, but it has now sadly had to be cancelled, a wise move I suppose. x

This card is just beautiful Hazel! I would have never thought your gelly roll pen would have looked silver or would have had that much coverage. But I think it look so pretty. I hope your snow is soon over. We have been lucky in that we haven't had that much snow this year, but lots of rain and some ice. March can still be a very snowy month though, but keeping my fingers crossed that spring is on the way, hope it will be for you too soon! Hugs, Brenda

ReplyDeleteYour card is just right for a sympathy card - simply designed, but beautiful to look at. I think it will convey a lovely message of condolences. We are to get some snow here this week, too. I am so over it! I wish it would stop already.

ReplyDeleteOh, wow, I do love that e/f, Hazel! It would be nice to have for those times when one does get caught up short and need a sympathy card in a hurry. Your choice for the corner element is perfect and it looks just fine in silver. It makes it lighter, which I think would be appreciated at such a dark time. Speaking of dark times, I'm sorry that you are AGAIN getting snow! Go yell out the front door, "Hey! It's the first day of spring!! Stop it!!" Hugs, Darnell
