Upcycling

Hello lovely crafters.  This post is a very quick one, because it is 01:30 and I only got back from A&E a couple of hours ago.  DH and I had been up there from 17:00 to 23:30 and hadn't even eaten since breakfast, but I was about to post this card before we had a mercy dash on.  To cut a very long story short, my dear mother had to be taken to A&E for a very nasty infection, and they are keeping her in overnight!

This card was made with a small square of fabric that was sent to me as a sample when I purchased some batting for a bag. And it was too pretty to just throw away, so I just framed it with a gold foil frame and stamped and embossed a sentiment to coordinate.

I'll leave you with the pictures, whilst I go off to bed (early for me, but I'm shattered).  Have a great week everyone.  That's me signing off.

A Win & A Card

A friend of mine is going through a tough time at present and I was thinking of her when I created this card as she is being amazingly strong.

First, I stamped the background on to a pink card base, then I sprinkled on WOW 'Sugar Plum' embossing powder - which was amongst a great stash of products that was a blog candy win from my blogging buddy Veerle.  Her blog can be found HERE.

I heat set the EP and it was full of glittery goodness . . . so pretty!

Next, I stamped the focal piece and adhered it to a piece of vellum that was slightly larger than my focal piece and adhered it to the card front.

I finished off with some Nuvo pearl drops and this is the finished card.

A Couple More Sewing Projects

Hello crafty friends!  I hope you are all well.  I have been doing a couple more sewing projects.  Sorry, I haven't done a card in a while, I promise to get one done soon.

My first project today, is a large tote bag.  It is padded and lined and I used some of the fabric that I used for my cushions and lined it with a daisy print fabric.

The second project is an e-book reader cover, also padded and lined.

This gorgeous fabric was gifted to me by one of the lovely ladies that I craft with on a Wednesday evening.

Don't look too closely at the projects as they are far from perfect, but I am learning all the time!

Something A Bit Different

Hello everybody.  I hope you have all had a good week so far.  I have been playing with my new toy - my new sewing machine - today, I am showing one of my first projects.

I used to sew in my early teens and young adulthood, but as clothes got cheaper and life got busier, I just stopped.  So, as it has been so long, I wanted to start small, with something easy.

I wanted some new cushion covers, so I decided that would be a good place to start.  They are nothing special, and they aren't complicated to make, but I had fun making them.

Here are a couple of pictures of them.

** EDIT **  I forgot to mention that, the fabric came from a duvet cover that I purchased because I loved the print.  And I put a zip/zipper in, in order that I may wash them.

Inspired By A Little Bit Of Glimmer

Hello crafty people!  I hope you are all having a good weekend.  I bought myself a new sewing machine - my old one is (ahem) forty years old now and weighs a ton, and I had got fed up with hiring a crane every time I needed to sew something that I just gave up.  So, my weekend has been spent acquainting myself with my new one (I will probably keep my old now for the rare job that my new one can't cope with).

Anywho, back to my card.  Have you ever seen some small detail on something that has planted an idea for a card in your head?  Well, that's how my card today came about.  I'll explain.

I looked at a card I had made for my stash some time ago that I had used a Gellyroll Stardust pen on and it shimmered beautifully.  I had only used it for small details and thought that it would be pretty as the dominant focal piece.

So, I drew some lines on the diagonal with it, bordered it top and bottom with two small strips of black card-stock, added a die-cut flower, a sentiment and a white gem in the centre of the flower.

Finally, the finishing touches were some scribbled circles with the Stardust pen and some clear Nuvo drops over the scribbles to give the spots some dimension.

Here is the card.

I hope you have a great Sunday and a fabulous week!
