Four Hours To Kill
Hi lovely people! Yesterday, I got a phone call from 'Adult Care' people, who are putting measures into place for Mum's discharge from the nursing home. They asked me if I could go up to my mother's house and be there for the fitting of a key safe, to be installed between 13:00 and 17:00 hours. I asked if they could narrow it down, they said, "sorry, but no". So I just grabbed a few scraps and ready made panels (practice pieces), some glue, scissors and a few other bits and pieces and got up there at 12:45 - of course, the guy didn't get there until 16:50 - but no matter.
Whilst I was waiting, I put together the following cards, which I finished off with some stamping when I returned home.
These are the cards I ended up with.
It was a good exercise for me as it challenged my creativity, with so few supplies to hand, and, in the end, I actually enjoyed that I didn't have too much choice, as it forced me to 'think outside the box'.
The news of Mum is, they want to send her back to her home on Wednesday 9th and I am meeting with 'Adult Care' tomorrow up at Mum's house to ensure they carry out a full risk assessment to my satisfaction.
I'm linking the last one to Loll and Bonnie's new watercolour challenge as it was kindly pointed out to me that it fits - the pink is 'smooshed' watercolour spritzed with shimmer spray.
Thank you so much for your visit today and especially if you have left a comment. You are all appreciated more than you know! If you have a question, please be sure I have a way to contact you so I can answer, as a lot of you are 'no-reply' bloggers, so I am unable to reply via e-mail.

ReplyDeleteYou really made the best of the long wait! They are all fabulous - the duck is so cheerful, the fern serene, and the last one very pretty! I am not doing so well with limited supplies - I always think of the perfect stamp/die/etc. that I don't have with me.
ReplyDeleteHope all goes well and your Mum can come back home! Thinking of you!
That is the way it is in the states too Hazel, they always give this huge time span and you have to sit and wait. Or as we like to say, "hurry up and wait". Glad your mum is getting to come home, hopefully all will be safe for her at her house thanks to you! Your cards are amazing Hazel! I love them all, the ducky one is just darling and the other cards are so elegant looking. You never cease to amaze me my friend, never! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteThese stunning cards just show the range of your talent, Hazel, that you are able to create like this with limited supplies! Bravo!! They are all terrific, especially the fern! I hope all goes well with arrangements for your Mom, my friend. Hugs, Darnell

ReplyDeleteYou made the best of your time waiting for the appointment. Three fantastic cards that are all creative and different. The duckies are adorable, the ghosted fern is serene, and your scripted smooshing is beautiful! Great job on all three!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear that your mum is doing better and hopefully it all works out for her to be back home where she will be happy. I'm sure there's lots of care to be set up, but you'll get it worked out. I know this has been a very difficult time for you and I'm sure knowing that she may be able to be home soon is a big relief. Take care ... sending hugs. And thanks for sharing your card with us at CAS Watercolour! xx
Well you certainly made the most of your time. The duck card brought a smile to my face and your other cards are so delicate and pretty. The next chapter of your Mum's recovery is about to start at home. Still lots to sort and get in place but I shall be thinking of you and look after yourself too. Glad you had a little time to create x
