Hello my loyal friends. I hope you are all well. This is just a quick update. Mum was discharged from hospital after around two weeks and sent to a care home for recuperation. It really was not the place for mum (most of the residents had Dementia or Alzheimers, whereas mum is as sharp as a tack). Unfortunately she is not the type of girl to 'push through the pain' and she has been doing very little to get on her feet and exercise - it hurts too much. Now, I understand that because I have inherited her low pain threshold, but it has held her back.
She is now being discharged - with a care package in place - and is going home. It is very bad timing as we are away for four whole weeks (our usual bi-annual visit to Andalucía to visit friends who live in the rural area). It was booked at the beginning of the year and all paid for.
However, I have put everything in place for her, her care package, medications and everything else to do with the appointments I usually take her to has all been rearranged.
I have been unable to do any more little videos, as she has always been in a very noisy, and chaotic environment, but she asked me to thank everyone once again, for all the lovely well wishes, thoughts, prayers and even cards from friends she has never met!
So, once again my friends, thank you so very much from the bottom of our hearts. And I will 'see' you all again, in July, and hopefully life will have settled a little by then!
Thank you so much for your visit today and especially if you have left a comment. You are all appreciated more than you know!
Enjoy your holiday Hazel and I hope everything works out for your mum.

So pleased your Mum is doing OK Hazel, and she will be a lot happier back in her own environment. It is always difficult to get mobility back after a hip fracture but more so at her age, but I'm sure she will be well looked after whilst you are away. It is good you are having this holiday as you must be in need of a break, so have a great time. x
ReplyDeleteI wish your mum the very best and it sounds like you have planned everything so well that you can take a break and enjoy your vacation!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad your Mom is doing better, Hazel, and that she's being released!! I hope you have a wonderful trip and time with your friends!! Big hugs :)

ReplyDeleteThank you for the update, Hazel. I'm sorry your mum is finding it difficult to get back on her feet, but hopefully once she is out of that environment she will feel safer and better able to cope with the pain of moving forward. I pray that all your detailed arrangements for her go off without a hitch and she stays well, so you and Graham can enjoy a restful and rejuvenating vacation and visit with your friends! Mwah! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteTFS your update on your mom and you. I am glad she will be able to be at home with all her care givers. She will be happier there and hopefully will be willing to be a little more active. I know this has also been a very stressful time for you, Hazel. Enjoy your much needed vacation. Thank you again for sharing your news. A soft hug for your mum, Too. Nancy
