I am having such a ball with all this watercolouring, I thought I would give something a little more 'structured' a go. I have never been very good at colouring things, whether it be, pencils, watercolour paints or markers, so I decided to have a practice and use the resulting card for the Happy Little Stampers CAS - Watercolour Challenge
I had watched numerous videos on You Tube on how to use watercolours for colouring and decided that the easiest method for me, was to heat emboss the image first, in order for it to 'contain' the paint, as it seems that watercolours have a mind of their own . . . nothing wrong with that, I admire independence, but I wanted to 'control' it . . . call me a control freak if you like, but I make no apologies for it!
Anywho, first I stamped, the image with versamark on to watercolour card, then I heat embossed it with white embossing powder. Next, I wet the card with water and set to work. The end result wasn't as lovely as I have seen it done elsewhere, by all these very talented folk who can do amazing things with paints, pencils and markers, but for me, I didn't think it wasn't too shabby.
Finally I mounted it on to some natural cardstock, stamped a greeting and added a few splashes of paint to give it that authentic watercolour look. This is the end result. All supplies are listed below.

Today, I thought I'd try a new technique that was inspired by a card I saw a couple of days ago on Maile Belle's wonderful blog, Simply Stamped!
I am going to enter this for the CASology: Week 129: NBUS challenge, because the stamp set has never been used,
Altenew's Super Script 2
and also, the Happy Little Stampers CAS #1 - Watercolour challenge, because, as you know, I've been watercolouring every piece of cardstock in site this past week!
This is the card
At the moment I am having a ball creating watercolour pieces and the instigators are Happy Little Stampers, who's challenge this month is to create a Clean And Simple card with watercolouring in it, you will find the challenge HERE or, click on the badge below
This time I created a watercolour piece, but cut it up into various size strips, then I stuck them 'haphazzard' style to create an eye catching border. I finished the card with a fairly bold sentiment and a couple of co-ordinating gems. Appologies for the poor pictures, but time was getting away with me and I was losing the light (you know how it is right?)

Today, I had to go for a root canal, I'd had it done once, but it didn't work, so I had to have it redone. I will be glad when it's all over and done with, it started two years ago . . . yes, that's right . . . two loooong years!
Anyway, that is not what todays post is all about.
As I knew that I would be at the hospital for quite some time, I decided to make a couple of quick, one layer cards.
One of them, I think, qualifies for the Happy Little Stampers CAS #1 Challenge
First I did a watercolour acylic block stamping technique as a background piece and let that dry, then I stamped my image and greeting in Versafine Black Onyx and ran it through the Cuttlebug, with my trusty Papertrey Ink EP. I finished it off with a couple of black dots. I hope that this still qualifies as CAS.
The second card was just a quick stamping, I had just opened a brand new (to me) Altenew stamp set, and I loved the look of it, so I just had to use it to try it out.
First, I stamped the outline image, this is a two-step stamp set, and at first, I didn't even try to line up the solid images with the outlines, going for a more 'loose look' to it, but then thought it just looked a bit 'naff', so lined the other solid images up properly.
It looked a bit 'naked' so I added some ink splashes and a couple of red gems, to give it a more 'finished' look. I'm not entering this one in the above challenge as I didn't do any watercolouring.

Today I am killing two birds with one stone, or, more accurately, two challenges with one card!
The first challenge, is the Happy Little Stampers CAS #1 - Watercolour Challenge and then I realised I was also using a set of Simon Says Stamp frame dies, that I had a little while and never used, hence, the NBUS Challenge #3
First, I made a watercolour piece just using a piece of watercolour cardstock and some cheap watercolour paints, then I let that dry.
Next, I got the negative part of the Penny Black 'Bashful' die, that I used HERE and adhered it to the watercolour piece and stamped the Simon Says Stamp ' Friendship Messages' sentiment at the bottom (I love that font)
Then, and this is where the NBUS stuff came in, I cut some frames with my Simon Says Stamp 'Frames' dies - and yes, I should have shares in SSS!
The reason that I had not used the frames before is that they are sized to fit the US A2 card size and all my cardstock was in UK A4 size, which is a little taller and a little thinner, so using US dies on our cardstock is always a compromise . . . anywho, I splashed out and got some US cardstock, from, yes, you guessed it, SSS . . . and what a difference it made! I was chuffed to bits, when my newly cut frames, fitted my Neenah Solar White cardstock perfectly! No more chopping off the bottom of a card, and I can now use the biggest die, whereas before I could only use the next size down . . . amazing!
For those of you who don't know the difference in sizes, US standard cardstock is 8.5 inches by 11 inches, whereas, UK standard A4 cardstock is, 21 centimeters by 29.7 centimeters (approx 8 and seveteen sixteenths inch by 11 and eleven sixteenths inch) . . . I know, daft, right? Well, it's ever since we went metric way back when. Up until then we used inches too, but now it is all in centimeters and millimeters . . . I sometimes wish I lived in the US . . . sigh!
Anyway, enough of my ramblings, I do hope you haven't nodded off and are still with me, here is the card.
I couldn't make my mind up today, which pic was best, the one with the cluttered background that showed the textures up nicely or the one where I moved it to a less cluttered background, but didn't show the textures so well, so I decided after much deliberation, to let you choose!
