Masked Stamping

Well, I have actually been back for a couple of days now, but you know how long it takes to catch up when you have been away right?  Well, for those of you who don't, the equation is this . . . for each week away, it takes two days to catch up . . . therefore, I am ahead of myself, because I should have taken six days!

However, I couldn't wait, so I have to admit I have (ahem) cheated, and am posting two cards that I had made previously as I didn't want folk to get fed up waiting for something to happen on here.

A while ago now, I did an online card class and one of the techniques demonstarted was 'masked stamping' and I made some cards using the technique.

The first card was this one

This was made by masking the center area off with masking paper and stamping a background using WPlus9 'Spring Blooms' stamp set and then removing the mask and stamping the sentiment in the center area with Cas-ual Fridays 'Frankly' stamp set.  I was quite pleased with the result and being only one layer it is easy to post!

The second one was made the opposite way, by cutting the center of the masking paper out and stamping the background in the center, again using WPlus9 'Spring Blooms' stamp set and an old sentiment set that I think (but I can't swear to) was a Paula Pascual stamp set.  Again, I was pleased with the result, but I must say that I preferred the first example above . . . let me know which you prefer.

The Last Post . . !

Only for 3 weeks, as I will be away with no access to the internet - I know, I've only just started it, right?  But, I promise that when I regain access once again.  I will try to post on a regular basis.

Anyway, this is a CAS card that I made with my Simon Says Stamp 'Air Vent' die (the negative part) and a Memory Box die (I think?) leaf stem, coloured with watercolour inks, covered with Wink Of Stella in clear and a liberal coating of Glossy Accents.

I was quite pleased with the end result . . . this is my kind of style.

Let me know if this is your kind of style, or what you are into at the moment.

Thanks for visiting!

And now for something different . . !

Different?  Well, this is a 'hybrid' card (a card made using a mixture of digital and traditional card methods in the same card.

I used a Kraft card base, a strip of patterned paper and a greeting - all printed on my printer.

Next, I stamped the flowers & leaves and die cut them using my Stampin' Up 'Flower Fair' bundle.  Then, I used some strips of coloured cardstock and punched a border using my Stampin' Up border punch and mounted it all on a plain white background and mounted it to the base card.

To finish, I added some tiny pearls, a touch of Wink Of Stella glitter pen in clear & a resin flower.

Do any of you like the hybrid cards, or are you true traditionalists?
